Well, I guess it is a bit of artwork. This winter I bought a 1978 RD400 that was in pretty poor shape and spent the winter (with a huge help from my friend Alix) rebuilding it. Finally put it all together and started it up. The final picture shows the bike as I bought it, my Photoshop mock up of what I wanted it to look like and finally how it turned out.

COOKIE PACKAGING

Happy New Year everybody! it's been awhile... First project of the new year is some cookie packaging for local personal trainer and entrepreneur Marshall Tully. He was looking for an economical and green conscious way to package his high protein cookies. I went with a band idea which uses minimal paper (recycled) with an Indian flavour to reflect the flavours of the cookies. The band wraps around the cookie bag and attaches with simple staple. The illustrations are Indian influenced and I think they work well with the overall concept.

Well, the Another Disposable Art Show came and went on the weekend and much $ was raised for charity. All of my decks sold, including the 2 I made for the 3D prints. A great night all around with a massive turnout and good times had by all. Look forward to next year!

3D WOODBLOCK SKATEBOARD PRINTS

I have been kicking around this idea in my head for a year or two but just never had the kick in the pants to try it, then my friend Joey asked me to be in a charity skate deck show so that was all I needed. It is a 3D anaglyph printed by using 2 laser etched skateboards... each slightly different to account for the object either popping in the foreground or receding into the background. I am surprised it work, it took alot of trial and error to get them to a point where I could pull off a decent print. I finally ended up using a high density sponge (actually the back of a foam stamp) to blot the ink onto the decks and then I aligned the paper and used a rubber roller to back of the paper to get a good contact.

They turned out pretty good and they went over well at the show... I believe they ended up selling to someone from the Imax 3D studio here in Toronto who was going to put it up the studio... cool!

Here is my latest painting... The Emperor... created using hand cut masks and acrylic paint. The board I used is from a different company than I usually use and it's quality is pretty piss-poor, the surface is splintery (even after sanding) and the edge finish is atrocious... last time I buy boards on sale. Anyway... I like the way it turned out.

Many people have been sending me emails or comments about the Skully Vans... The cost will be $150 per pair + $20 shipping, they will come with 3 different tongue colours (maybe more, but minimum 3). I will be making them on a pre-order basis. That means I will ask you to pay half or the full amount up front to cover my costs. You can pre order by paypaling me $85 (or the full $170) to josiefeen@gmail.com .

I will be doing this since they are hand made and I have to order each pair of blanks with the idea that there is a buyer for each pair, otherwise I am stuck with a pair of shoes I have no use for. I will be doing both men's white canvas and ladies black patent leather (depending on size availability). The time frame will be 2 months from when I receive your order (there are so many orders that is the most reasonable time frame I can come up with... I will be a busy man).

I will be sending this information to those of you that I have contact information, others that just commented under "guest" or "anonymous" please get in touch with me with your proper information.

Okay... so I am finally going to get off my ass and make some of my Skully Vans (see the pics on the right or search this blog to see my completed original canvas pair)... I am starting with some slick ladies black patent leather Vans I have found. This is a pre-order to let me know how many and what sizes I need to purchase to start making them. My plan is to include 3 interchangeable tongue options: white, grey and pink. Pink stitching and pink sole. These will sell for $185 US... not cheap, but they will be limited to 15 pairs (first ordered, first served). I will take orders with a $50 deposit (balance due upon completion of shoes). Accepted orders will be completed by Halloween 2009.

**Caveat Emptor**... since these are custom, made to order shoes please order size carefully, no substitutions or refunds will be given. Also note, this design does remove material from the shoe, I cannot guarantee the durability of these shoes, they are more fashion over function, so again no refund or substitution will be given for damage occuring after arrival of product. Refund will be given on deposit if I cannot complete the project due to material issues, etc.
