CHIMO!
This is a study for a painting based off a patch on my girlfriend's childhood sweater... I love the patch and the story behind it so I decided to do a little spin on it.
from Inuktitut, a word of greeting, farewell, and toast before drinking.
Chimo was
incorporated into English by an act of the Federal Government of Canada
in 1967 in an effort to create a national greeting akin to ciao or aloha. The word was somewhat popular during the Canadian centennial celebrations, but in current use is mostly ironic.
